Its a Labeotropheus trewavasae the top lip hangs over dead give away

oops theres more pics ( slow connection in hotel )

1 Labeotropheus trewavasae
2 not sure a peacock of some sort
3 could do with a head shot but its got some horid marks on it
4 hongi ?

As you already know your mix is way off and your ph is to low. i would consider sorting your stocking out ,the bumblebee kenyi and trewavasae are very aggressive and the peacocks are wimps sooner or later its going to get nasty in there, You should research the fish then buy it ,not buy it stick it in the tank and then ask what you have brought.

Actually we purchased these from our LFS. They were all in tanks that were labeled assorted Africans, thats why we were asking if anyone knew about them. I have done many hours research in books and the internet trying to find these species.

As far as Peacocks not being aggressive, thats a crock and I guess its all up to the fish because we have a peacock that rules the roost.

Labeotropheus trewavasae- I found similar fish labeled as Spotted Zebra's, but he doesn't look like our other Zebra (facewise), that is why I was asking and he is most definitely the largest in the tank and the biggest pansy in there.

I don't see what you are calling horid! I believe it is a female of the Peacock Family. Those marks you call horid are its dark brown spots. Its a brown fish with dark brown spots and I think she is quite lovely.

Thanks for the tip on the Hongi. We have no aggression problems with him. He has his spot and no other fish bother him.

We only had one aggression issue in our tank and we solved the problem. We are back to our peaceful african cichlid community, as much as that may sound like an oxymoron to you. :good:

peacocks are not aggressive compared to a full grown crabo which you should know can get to 8" or a full grown hongi 5" the spotted zebra never heard of it, its a name given to fish when people dont know the name, there are fish called ob or blotch but not spotted.

The horrid marks were on the other pic the one with the front of it head missing from the photo, the marks are from bad breeding.

The aggression will be an issue in the tank as it can take up to 6 months to settle and i cant see the peacock lasting.

Most of this i know from experience i had a similar mix when i started and lost my haps and peacocks, killed by a crabo (bumblebee cichlid).

As i said i would consider changing your stocking for a more traditional mix.
