Myxazin Help, Please!

In my 30L tank, I'm currently treating my Betta for fin rot. I'm using Myxazin, but if anything, he's gotten worse.
I know it can't be anything wrong with the medicine, so I'm thinking that it's probably a high ammonia level in the tank (I have no way of testing this, my kit is out of date and I have no money ). I'm currently on day 4 of treatment, and tomorrow would be the last dosage, but can I just cut it short and do a large water change, then start another course again? Or, can I do a water change and will it not affect the course of treatment I'm doing?

Hiya hun - oh dear, not more problems! Ok, so when did you last do a water change on this tank? (Sorry, when we messaged yesterday, I thought your betta was in your other tank, didn't realise it was kept separately). Is he the only fish in this 30L? Oh, and was the filter in this tank properly cycled before you put him in there?

Just trying to ascertain whether it could be an ammonia/nitrite problem or something else.

Myxazin is usually pretty good stuff - but do make sure you're using the correct dosage and not over-dosing accidentally. Double check your maths on how much should be given in a 30L and measure it using the little plastic cap supplied. Ensure, also, that there is no charcoal in your filter.

As you have no test kit at the moment to see what condition your water is in, my suggestion would be to do a 50% water change today as toxins are deadly to fish, as you know. The fin rot can often be controlled with plenty of water changes. If you were to do a 25% water change every day for a few days you might find that the fin rot begins to disappear and the fish perks up. That's what I'd do, anyway. If after, say, 5 days there's no improvement or I saw the fish looking worse, then I'd start the Myxazin treatment again. Knowing how some bettas are quite fragile with meds, I tend to use slightly less than the recommended dose, especially if the water quality is great.

Gosh, I know Luckily the 64L is fine now though, so that's one less thing to worry about!
The last time I did a w/c would be the day before I started the treatment, so 5 days ago? I did a 50% change then
I keep him, 6 male endlers and a baby platy in the tank.
The filter has been cycled for a year now, and we bought him 2 months ago. I think he had fin rot when I got him, it just wasn't obvious enough to notice.
I'm sure it's nothing wrong with the medicine. I'm pretty sure it must be the ammonia, but I have no test kits to prove it (luckily have ordered a new set, but they won't arrive until the 16-20th).
As for the amount, I'm treating 2ml every day. On the bottle, the lowest reading it gives is 2.5ml for 37.5L, so I think the dosage is about right.
I'm currently using a medicine filter cartridge which has no carbon in it
Chai isn't upset in any way, which is a little strange! He's more active and friendly than he's ever been, but his fins still aren't getting any better.

Do you think if I did the last dose tomorrow, then left it 6 hours and did a 50% change, then did another 50% change the day after I could start dosing with Myxazin again?

Hi - sorry was busy again earlier. Just checked Myxazin instructions and they say: "MYXAZIN should be used daily until symptoms disappear (typically this would be between 3 and 5 applications)." So "typically" doesn't mean every case will be cleared up within 5 days. So I guess if you need to do a 2nd lot of treatment, you should be able to. Like I said before, I would try a few days of just doing water changes.

How bad is Chai's fin rot? Do you have a pic of it? Are you sure it's fin rot?

Reason I ask that is because I know that a betta who's been fin-nipped or in a fight and lost bits of fins will re-grow the fins but they tend to grow back with a raggedy white edge to them. Just want to make sure you're not medicating him for something he doesn't have LOL
