Mystery Snail Dead?

Hello everyone! I have just found out that my mystery snail has died. I have another on too and it has not come out of his shell for over 4 months now. I bet he's dead but I don't want to throw him out if he's not. I also have noticed an ammonia rise in the past few days. That could be from overfeeding which I have changed by the way. I went from basically nothing to 3 times a day. Anyhow, what do you guys think? I know this isn't a mystery snail website but I figured I will try here because applesnail.net is basically dead.

GET HIM OUT OF THERE NOW!!!!! Dead snails make big ammonia spikes!!!!! I think. But either way get him out!!!!
Don't mean to yell just offering in a loud tone...

if you want to see if he is dead he will come out of his shell if you tug a little, if he doesn't come out then he is just hiding and may be coming out at night, I thought mine was dead once and I tugged a little and he pulled back further into his shell

A dead snail will have a very bad odour when you take it out of the tank....you will definitely be able to tell if it is dead! :sick:

Its been in the exact same spot for 5 months so I doubt its that smart.
