Yesterday i noticed a strange looking creature crawling along the bottom of my fishtank. It is roughly 1 inch long ,has six legs and a sort of V-shaped tail. A picture of it is shown below.

I have seen it eat snails but i also have some very small fry in my tank and i would like to know if there is any chance it will eat them?
thanx

it could be any laval stage of certain flying insects-i agree it looks like dragonfly..but what r the chances of a dragonfly getting in the house and then thinking oh i lay my eggs there, the are lots of other insects it could be from - the all look the same.. which means that it will eventually leave the tank.- it shouldnt eat the fry but i would get rid of it anyway.

I think it's a damselfly nymph, going by your pic. Predatory larvae similar to dragonfly nymphs.

If its a dragonfly nymph then your fry are probably indanger, as they eat tadpoles, thier lover jaw suddenly shoots out and somehow stuns or kills its prey (saw it on some documentry ages ago), so yer I'd say get rid of it.
