Hi
I know this is the wrong section... but more people use it so hopefully I'll get more replies.
2 of my honey gourami developed tiny light spots on their fins (mostly tail). I'm sure they're not ich as they're too small. Literally the size of dust.
Since then they've lost colour (they were always a bit dull). They have very dark patches on their lower bodies, almost like they've got dirt or soot on them. and the base of their tails is now beginning to look very colourless, almost grey.
Their behaviour seems normal and they're eating fine. They do seem to come to the surface more oten though.
I thought perhaps it was velvet, but not sure.
I've added aquarium salt, dimmed the lights and increased the temperature as I've heard these can help velvet and other diseases.
Also added a cure for "anti-sime and velvet" which contains some similar ingredients to the anti-ich treatment.
I'm oviously very concerned.
Tested my water for ammonia and nitrite and both were at zero. Nitrate was around 15.
The tank is fairly new (5 weeks but the filter and some water came from an old tank along with many of the fish so it was effectively already cycled and had no ammonia spike or anything.
It's 220L, 2 bolivian rams, 3 honey gourami, 2 dwarf gourami, 14 neon tetra.
If anyone has any ideas, please, please let me know.
