This morning I noticed my female platy looked like she might pop. She was pregnant so that made sense. Her gravid spot seemed to have sll the fry right there. I didn't have time to actually put her in a tank or in the breeder. I already had fry in the breeder so yeah. I though the next best thing would be a bowl. I mean I would be home in a few hours and then I could start up a tank. It didn't work that way though. I used a water jug from jewel with the filtered clean water.I just got home and sadly she was dead. I don't really know why. Maybe there was something I did wrong I know the bowl wasn't the best plan but it was all I could do at that point. What did I do?

It could just have been the stress of moving her just before shes ready to drop. Ive had it happen twice when Ive moved them into the breeding traps.

I'm not familiar with the water jug you are talking about. If you are talking about putting a fish into straight RO water, the problem is probably that the fish was in water with no minerals in it. That can cause extreme stress to the fish.

The water is mineral water that you can buy in like gallon size containers. They are plastic? Umm I really don't know how to explain. I think it might have been stress.

What I would have done is put the platy in a bowl of water taken from the tan it came from as it will not get as stressed because there is no change in water propoties.

Ohh thats a very good idea! I really wish I thought of that then. Thanks!
