My Zebra Danio Are Slowly Dropping!

Cheers, Wilder.

I have the interpet treatment, still waiting on the flubenol to arrive so I can dose together. The fish in one of my other tanks (platies) are showing similar symptoms, white stringy poo and flicking a lot but the male also has white spots on his tail fin, will the internal parasites med and flubenol clear this or do I need another med too? NIGHTMARE!

The whitespots are they like grains of salt?
That meds taking it time arriving when did you order it?

Flubenol arrived today. It was dispatched on Thursday but mail here is cr@p.

I have dosed my three tanks with flubenol and the interpet anti-internal parasites med this evening.

No more losses over the last few days and the danio in the main tank have been displaying normal shoaling behaviour and many of the females look very gravid - a good sign I think but I'm not getting complacent. I added a couple of airstones and wonder if this could have made a difference.

I will redose the anti internal parasites med to all 3 tanks in 4 days time as the label recommends.

As for the flubenol, ths instructions say it is a once only treatment. I think I remember reading advice to retreat weekly on 4 separate occasions. I will do that if it is likely to be necessary but obviously don't want to waste all the med unnecessarily. What about perhaps redosing the flubenol in a week's time and leaving it at that? I presume it is to dispose of any new parasites which have hatched from eggs during the first treatment....

Finally, the platy has quite a lot of small white spots at first I thought they were oxygen bubbles but definitely spots, mainly on the anal and caudal fins. I'll try and add a picture tomorrow. A bit smaller than grains of salt I'd say.... What should I do with him?

Many thanks, Wilder, you are an absolute star!

The reason for threating fish for 4 weeks if usually for flukes as some parasites they lay eggs, the one hit dose kills the adults but not the eggs.
Had some info a while ago but all the sites are down now with the product coming off the market at the end of october.
Sounds like the fish have whitespot if the spots are very small, post a pic.
Does it look like a dusting of white talc powder.
Turn tanks lights out and shine a torch on the spots to see if they glow up a golden yellow colour.
Good luck.

I'm having an absolute nightmare with my tanks.

As I posted last night, I dosed all 3 with Flubenol and internal bacteria med at the correct doasges.

Today I have loads of fish (cherry barbs, rams, kuhli loaches, corydoras) flicking on the sand at the front of my second tank. This had no symptoms that I had noticed 24 hours ago and this is after dosing Flubenol. How long does this med take to work?

In my main tank, the fish look to be behaving more normally but I have a couple of pest snails (pond and ramshorn) which are still happily moving around. I thought the med was supposed to kill these? The fact they are still around 24 hours later does make me wonder if the flubenol is working in the tanks.....

To top it all off, in my 3rd tank (platies) they are flicking too and the male still has his white spots. They do look dusty rather than like grains of salt so I guess it could be velvet having read around a bit. Here is a pic....

What is the best thing to do with the platy tank? Should I remove him and treat in a spare tank or will the whitespot / velvet already have passed on to the other fish in the tank? Is the interpet whitespot treatment a good choice to deal with this?

As for all the flicking..... is this normal 24 hrs after medicating or a sign that I need to treat again sooner rather than waiting 7 days?

Sorry for all the questions but I am pretty fed up and anxious not to lose my fish. Six month's plain sailing then all this...... it never rains but it pours!

Should of taken the snails out as if they die and rot they beocme toxic to fish.
The med works in 24 hours.
If your fish have a dusting of white on them yes it does sound like velvet, worse than whiitespot and hardier to get rid of.
Have you increased aeration in the tank?
Meds can make fish flick for a while as some are sensitive to them, as the flicking stopped yet, or its the velvet making them flick.
