Got myself a Brycon yesterday... I couldn't resist! I think it may be a B. whitei. What do you monster keepers think?

Excuse the flash. I couldn't take a picture without it, since this fish does not stop moving and begging for food.

Check out the teeth on him...

There is no way that this is a atf. First of all, they are illegal here and second of all, the body shape is all wrong to be a tiger.

Take a look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnkpdGvhP8k

That's exactly what he looks like. I'll try to get better pictures of him for you, but he's so damn fast!

Thanks for your help with everything, Mark.

Ah ha I see you poiont hopefully yours in in better condition that that one lol.
 Yeah. He's eatin' anything that I've thrown in there and is constantly cruising the tank.

Very close to being my new favorite fish in there. :)

I'd go with Brycon dentex myself, the large visable teeth are a tell tale with this species.

Thanks CFC. It's tough to find any info on these guys. It seems like a lot of IDing is done with little or no pictures.

Either way, he's definitely a cool fish! :D

EDIT: I also want to ask, what is the difference between dentex and whitei? They both seem to have the visible teeth, like you said, and seem pretty similar in many ways. Another, probably better question is, is that really a whitei in the link I posted?

I guess I just want a better handle on how to identify fish in this genus... as they all look relatively the same.
