Ok I suppose I should start with a pic of its current state:

Yes it has seen better days, here is a pic from about a month - 6 weeks ago....

Unfortunately a horrible type of algae has got hold of it (I will post pics shortly)

These are the issues my tank has at the moment, only started within the past couple of weeks as you can see from pics.

So annoying!

Now I'm going to show off another bargain bogwood find :D

(Well I'm chuffed with it any rate)

And here's my hand for scale......

And again

All for placement in my tank if they will fit.

I thought I would hopefully have enough hidey holes and also use the bogwood already in there and do away with the stones......

So how much would you be willing to pay for them second hand? - let's see if you think I got a bargain :D

Woah! I have a vision 180 and mine looks rubbish compared to yours! Need to transfer my pleco so I can get some lovely plants in there and hopefully do some nice scaping like yours! Very very nice!!
Too bad about your algae. Do you have co2 fluctuations? I think that's what caused my black brush algae :-( it's awful to get rid of, I still have a little bit because I had to take a scrubber sponge to the glass! Don't know of any fish that eat it either unfortunately :-(
Still a gorgeous tank though!

Thanks, no too scared about co2 atm, maybe in the future.

Ha ha I'm unsure of changing it now...... Nope it has to be done.

I'm going to throw the massive java fern out at the back - which I have had for about 10 yrs ! Fish love hiding in it, but I think it looks awful right now....

Siamese Algae Eater, will apparently eat BBA, a real one as they are often sold as SAE but are not.  They need to be in groups though to avoid aggression and need a large tank.  Flourish Excel or Hydrogen Peroxide can also assist, but care must be taken with both of these.  I have used the latter but not the former.  I syringe it directly onto the algae when I do WC's.  More regular WC's and reduction in light can also assist with managing BBA.

Nooooooo, do not throw the Java Fern, just split it and replant it on your new wood, it will look awesome.  I like it personally, it is like a Amazon Sword I have that is now split into many tanks.

Personally, I like your tank but can see your desire for a re-scape too.  May I suggest getting rid of the pile of rocks in the middle or using them to make caves in amongst your new wood :)

As for your new wood, I would say about £20 for both ...

Ooh RCA very close -£25 for both!

It's this bloomin horrid algae though all over it :( I'm disheartened! (My java fern)

Look what arrived in the post:

Time for some emasculating err sorry I mean plant trimming :D

I had that exact same algal bloom. Fortunately, the tank it was in only had vallis so I could trim it right down to the parts the algae hadn't taken over. Sigh - set backs of the hobby, eh. Drastic pruning is definitely your best option. Good luck!

Do not be disheartened just trim it and attack the BBA, but keep it as it is a good plant.

Ha, amazing what the postman can turn up with from time to time ;)

Just a tip, I have found that normal aquarium planting tongs are not strong enough to grip BBA, so take a look in any store that sells fishing gear and get a pair of long handled tongs from there.  These tend to lock onto the BBA and then you can rip the stuff off ornaments etc.

Ok, so a few weeks later and I have managed to sort the tank out!

Here's a few pics -

I have some more vallis on its way too, so not quite complete yet.

Personally I'm not quite sure what to think of it, thoughts?

Thanks for looking :)
Oh and sorry it's not much of a journal, just ran out of time so had to just get on with it :/
