My Very First Tank

'peckoltia'????

Well I've just got my first lil fish, 1 male sailfin mollie and 2 females and 2 dalmation balloon mollies.

Yeah the air stone is very easy in that case they also do it in a round stone too which maybe better for you Jamie

Those fish breed rapidly to live birth so you will have lots of babies soon.

Hey i bought a set which has both the circular and long airstone attachments;
I have two valves which aparently i can adjust the flow/strength of the water but im not sure how to do it haha,

I found those dalmation mollies to be fin nippers on my other fish mind you i did only have one so maybe they will keep eachother busy :)

Hi im just a newbie myself so am interested to see what you choose.

Love the natural look of your tank.

You could always add a few corys to add interest to the bottom, they would love your bogwood, and the ones I got only grow to about 2" so not to big.

Ive got a couple of peppered cory catfish and I love them. They go all round the tank, but always end up back on bottom, my neon tetras and golden barbs prefer the middle and my endlers like the top.

Balloon mollys are so much fun ooooooo if I had more room!

Hi I read the bit about lfs wanting to make money and preying on novice fishkeepers. I work in a lfs (no way p@h) and this is so not true in our shop. In fact the best shops offer good advise slow stocking and encourage people to test the water all along the way. We love our fish too. Just speaking from experience watch out for drips coming down the front of the 125. Weve had a few faulty ones. Keep an eye on it before you put fish in.

Platies, mollies guppies swordtials are good big bold fish best kept 2-3f to 1 m
Danios are good starter fish - very hardy
corys - good for bottom
otocinclus - good algae eaters and dont eat plants
tetras and rasboras are great shoaling fish
shrimps are great for cleaning plants
Fighters are beautiful bright and full of character especially the crown varieties if you can get them

I'm not stereotyping but it is a money making business and some shops have tendencies to not think of the fish.

What shop do you work in?

As stated previously cory catfish are very good starter fish and I love mine to bits. They will never attack anything and have a playful nature provided they are kept in at least a 6. I have C. Sterbai which is my favourite, beware Sterbai cost like a fiver each... quite expensive.

hmmm got a lot to think about! Well so far they have settled in well. Balloon fish are ok not nipping at all, well so far anyway lol

UPDATE!!

unfortunately I lost 2 albino cories and 2 mollies.

Ive got 2 sailfin mollies

1 ballon molly

2 peppered cories

7 amano shrimp

5 red platties

my next i think will be 3 clown loach, then 5 congo tetras, then 3 balloon rams cannot wait!

What do you think of that list?
