My Two Fish

I did my best to get some pictures of him...they pretty much all turned out dark though. Oh, and on a closer look at him, I think he is probably more like 7 inches long. maybe 7 and a half...*shrugs* I guess it's a good thing I'm not in construction...

Anyway, you can go here to get the pictures. He's the only pleco on the page. There is only one that he has his dorsal fin thing up on...I got really lucky cuz he usually only has it up when he is swimming...but he left it out just long enough for me to get a picture of it.

So if you guys know if he is different than what I thought when I got him (I was told he wouldn't get more than 10 inches) please!!! let me know! :) Thank you.

looks like a common except its eyes are too big.

i read that when fish are stunted then there organs still grow, dont kno if this includes eyes but i thought plecos didnt get stunted, they jus grew anyway.

Do you mean how big a round they are, or do you mean that they are bugging out? Cuz in person they don't look very big...I mean, not overly big. And they don't stick out at all.

not bulging out or anything. jus a lil bigger than the ones i normally see! but ive jus looked through google images and there is a few that have similar eyes so i think your ok!

a 7.5 inch fish still needs a bigger tank tho.

its like saying youd be fine in a caravan for the rest of ya life. you can move yea but it would suck big time!

Not really, fish think alot differently then humans. A fish wouldnt think about how small the tank is, it would just live in it. The pleco still will need a bigger tank though. The eyes are also normal on the fish, when they are younger they look like that.

Your taking a big risk by keeping that pleco in with your goldie, I did the same thing when a I was beginner, was told they'd be ok together and the pleco would eat my aglea, did some research and found out the the pleco is attracked to the goldfish's extra thick slime coat, but it was too late :(
Is it just the way you are taking your pictures or does your goldifsh's tail look really messed up? It looks all bent and almost "stunted"...I don't know. Maybe it was born that way?

I think the goldfish's tail just looks strange in the pictures. I went back and looked at the pictures, and that's not how it looks in person. I think it is probably because he was swimming up and down while I was taking the pictures, so the water probably was pushing it down like that.

I will be getting a new tank sometime soon (so you know SamUK...should I send you a PM so you know that I've said that I am getting a new tank???). It might be a month or so before I can get one, but you know, they have been in there together for 14 months now, I don't think another month is going to hurt anything.

And as far as the pleco attacking the goldfish, they have never once acted aggresseve toward each other (and I watch them ALOT!!!). I am a stay at home mom, so I am home all day and able to keep an eye on them. If I notice any change in behavior (where one of them starts to act aggresive towards the other) I will seperate them. But unless that happens, they will continue to be housed together because they are happy. You can tell by how they act and eat and everything else, that they are happy. I'm not going to seperate them just because other people have had problems with those kinds of fish together. But if mine start to act like the want to hurt the other, I will take action to keep them from doing it.

Thanks for the concern. :)

I'm happy with just the two of them. I'm just going to get bettas...don't worry, they aren't going in with the goldfish and the pleco. They get their own tanks.
