I setup a new Lido 120 just three weeks ago. I bought one of their 3d backgrounds and fixed it in place with a whole tube of their own make sealant and
let it cure for a week. I then put everything in , including vulcanit substrate, some rock, plants and fish plus co2.
I've just had the background detach and send everything flying across the room. What the hell was that all about?!
The sealant stayed stuck to the glass but the background came clean away, not a trace of sealant on it and no damage either.
Despite throwing all my toys out the pram I want to redo it all. Everything is now in another tank and the Lido is empty and cleaned of
sealant. So before I redo it all does anyone have a better way of fixing the background in place? I didn't realise just how buoyant they are
and I'm not surprised the sealant gave way with that amount if stress on it.

leave some air gaos around it its will have beencaused by a build up of pressure with warm water in ther and the back being sealed, there need to be some gaps to allow for movement and pressure behind the background

(tho this is not definatly the problem im just working on a theroy here lol)

Realy sorry to hear about the tank mate. :/ Was there any fish in it?

I don't think the tank itself exploded (if I read it correctly). "Only" the background detatched.

I've not heard of this happening before, so afraid I can't advise "wotnot".

Rather than exploded, erupted is probably more accurate. I've been given some gold label pond aquarium sealer to try by the lfs. I've also
made some brackets out of plastic coat hooks that I will stick to the glass above the background to hold it down. Hope this works!

That's what we have used to attach the background to our tank. We've had no problems with it at all, so good luck!
