Hi all, i introduced myself in the new members section but if anyone hasn't seen, i'm Frazer.

Here's my 56 litre tropical tank. Not happy with the way it looks at the moment, too many plants/not enough swimming space due to said plants.

Comments welcome!

Stocking-
- 7 Cardinals
- 10 Guppy
- 3 Peppered Corydora

My last molly died, noticed he was swimming under the fry net then the next morning he was floating. Gutted, one of my very first tropical fish!! Added the Corydora yesterday, oh i love starting work at 12...so much time to buy things..!

What would you do to change my tank? I'm getting a 20 litre tank, heater and filter given from the pet shop i send my guppy fry to. This is so i can remove the breeder net from my tank as it's an eye sore and has 63 fry in at the moment, yes 63! I counted. It's a brilliant little arrangement i have with the shop, stops inbreeding here, repays me with flake food once a month and i get all the knowledge and offers i need! They sell them on for £1.50/2 each so they're making a healthy profit.

Well I would increase the corydora number, as 3 is a very low number, they like to be in big groups.

I would look to move your internal filter to the back of the tank, this will give the appearance of more room, and open the front up more.

Not sure what your gravel is like, is could be too sharp edged for corydoras, as their barbels are at risk with sharp edged gravel.

The piece of bog wood is really big too, maybe look to break it up into smaller pieces so as to increase the space?

personally I like the wood as it is, creates a nice focal point for the tank.

The gravel you have looks similar to what I have kept corys on. If it's roundish and not sharp to the touch, it should be fine.......but they do prefer sand.

Cheers guys!

The gravel is quite rounded and no sharp bits that i can see. http://www.petsathome.com/shop/black-aquarium-gravel-2kg-by-pets-at-home-33634

The wood i agree on. I like it as it creates a cave effect but may be too large for this tank. I'll move some stuff around tonight and get another picture took.

The filter will be moved and i'll move my bubble wall across to the other side. Water will be added.

Cheers for the comments, picture will be on later tonight.

One more thing, how many more Corydora's shall i get? Another 3?

while they do prefer to be in larger numbers, a trio in that size tank is about all you can get away with, i would say that if you added more fish, you will be overstocked as i believe you are right on the limit at the moment.

Aye that's what i was thinking. Mid-way through a revamp anyway, having a little break to decide what to put back in. Can't wait for this guppy tank to arrive on Saturday, the breeder net is taking away valuable swimming space!

How big were people's Corydora when you got them? Mine are about 2.5 inches, seen some in the shop that are tiny though. Fun to watch them.

Okay so...

Basic so far. Taken out the wood, added a rock i've had for a while. Pruned the plants back, moved them around and changed the small rock formation.

Happy with it so far as the swimming space has been improved dramatically but needs a few smaller plants i reckon...
