I am currently setting up my first aquarium and would like to share some photos. I want a planted tank but still want some open swimming space. I am not 100% sure how I want it but so far it looks like this:

And With Falsh on camera:

I have a Large root that the glass catfish, Silver Shark and Pink Kissers like to hang out. A Skull that plenty of the fish like to swim in and out of, A Geyser with Blue lighting and a piece of bog wood. I let the wood soak for a few days before putting it in and it hasn't made the water change colour at all. I am hoping it will lower the PH slightly at it's a little acidic but nothing special. I have some plants in there but I dont think there is enough yet to provide good coverage for the fish that like to hide. I dont know what plants or where to put them and I may re-arrange the plants a little but I dont want to keep putting my hands in the tank and unsettle everything. Not too happy with the geyser wire and hose. I will run that neater next time I do a water change. It seems a little noisey unless I have the rate of bubble quite low. And this causes lots of tiny bubbles to flow round the tank (which I thought cant be a bacd thing)

What do you think?

hi,

Tank looks nice :good: - it'd be good to put another plant in front of the hose so looks nicer!

Other than that, I'm no plant expert but I think it'd be good to put a few more in, as fish like lots of hiding places!

Congrats on getting bogwood that doesn't discolour the tank - had to take mine out, it's been soaking now for 2weeks!! hmm!!

Post another picture when finished!

Thanks for the reply. I tried to put plants by the hose and wire but they ended up either side. Might be because I have the light too close to the back but its such a pain to move due to the suction cups and the gravel. I will do something soon though and post more pics.

Hey there...

Nice Tank! It think it looks really good!

The glass cats are nice fsh... so are the sharks...

Overall, i like your tank... Good job :good:

What size is this tank?

The silver shark, aka Tricolor shark, aka Bala Shark is a schooling fish and needs a shoal of 5 to 6 at least and since they can grow upwards of 12 to 14" when full grown, you need atleast a 120G to house a shoal of them, especially since they can be skiddish fish that scare easily and are very active, so a 150G would prob be even better.

It is an aqua one Ar850 by the looks, which holds 165 litres or 43.5 US Gallons

Yeah it is an AR850 and since the LFS advised me which fish to keep I have since realised the Silver Sharks were not such a good idea. I dont want to add any more as I know they will out grow the tank and will be considering getting rid of them when they start to get bigger.

I don tknow what plants I have in there but they are just what the LFS had in. They have been in a month now and seem to have rooted well (i had to move one when I put the bog wood in)

What othe rplants should I get?
