you may be able to spot one or two inhabitants, they have now felt they are comfortable at home and are happily hid away amongst the greenery

here is when they were just in the tank and were doing the LFS routine of swimming up and down the tank due to boredom and insane volumes of tankmates

Adorable! But your plants are terrestrial, they'll die under water, I had the same problem with the exact same plant. There is no variegated aquarium plant.

ive got 5 of them in there, ive checked on various sources and i 'may' need to upgrade the tank when they grow bigger, as they are only very very small at the moment(bout 3/4 of a cm)

im going back tomorow to get more of the grassy type plant at the rear of the tank in centre as they absolutely love it

also got a piece of wood to put in when it stops running

some of those are java fern

from what ive read they are one of there native plants

is that the tank you had the pleco in? how is he/she?

pleco has been rehoused along with the platties i had there

not rehomed by a LFS as well BTW, a friend of mine is housing the plec and her auntie is housing the platties as she has a 4 foot tank with about 2 fish in it

No java ferns in there, as far as I can see, or at least I can 100% assure y ou the striped plants are terrestrial. Java ferns need to grow on rocks.

Why not get some val? The grassy plants look terrestrial as well but vallisneria isn't. Did you buy them at Petco?

no mate, im the UK and bought it from a decent fish store

the java fern i have 2 clumps of

one of it just left to the centre of the tank, just creeping under the wood, and the other to the right just infront of the rock

BTW, some of these plants have been in the tank for over 3 weeks now and show no sign of dying at all

deffo java fern that mate

also have Hygrophila corymbosa at the rear left hand side of the tank and Hydrocotyle sibthorpioides at the very centre, although it is still in its infancy

Cryptocoryne willisii makes it up in the far centre of the picture

i cant vouch for the others as they were purchased from different stores

also

here is my new best mate it seems, he keeps popping ut every now and again to see me

shame but he had to go but at least you know he's in a good home :good: sorry i can't help with the plant thing though

 that has got to be one of the cutest pictures i have even seen

cheers mate, i did a fair bit of research and tried to find the plants that were native to the puffer, and from my belief i have done

at least 4 different species of native plant in the tank

Mondo Grass, Chlorophytum are not aquatic. In 3 weeks they wouldn't have started to rot. They will soon though.

Tank looks good though. Hope you enjoy the Puffers.

cheers for that mate, i guess thats how these LFS stores get by though, by selling plants dipped in water because they look nice

also, i noticed you did the plants i mentioned and you ID'd them, but give my Hydrocotyle sibthorpioides a big red text, like it was the devil plant....lol

i do also have one just behind that, it has red on the underside of its leaves

Is the rhizome of the Java Fern above the substrate? It needs to be attached to bogwood.

Dave.
