My Tank

Ok SamUK. So that means you should only keep fish in the same water conditions as they are found in the wild?
That means that your tank with the angel fish should have a ph of around 6.5 and be very soft. Angel fish dont NEED soft water and low ph to thrive, but they can live in tanks with a ph of around 7.2- 7.6 with fairly hard water living a perfectly healthy life. Just because they arent in the same conditions as they are in the wild doesnt mean they arent comfortable. Angel fish even breed in harder water, and if an angel fish breeds that means it must be comfortable in the tank its in.

To back up what spacemonkey has said.. I have hard water and my angelfish breed almost every week and a half..

ello. right thankyou all for your concerns.(seidge,deano,fishkiller,samuk,ozzy47,ancient mariner, space monkey) havent meant to cause any friction on hear and we all have are own opinions which are good.as for size and age the male and 2 female zebra malawis are nearly fully grown and have laid 3 times. the firemouth is fully grown (about 4" 1/2") and the kissing gourami is is about 8". when i first got the parrot he was in a depressed state and packed in a tank with about 20 others with no room to breath. by his behavior he is well happy just like all the others.i no that it is in a way an upridictable tank with the mixture, but i have done my research when at my lfs ect and never had any deaths, not even any torn fins ect. dont quite no wat else to say but im really happy with my setup, its taken me along time to kinda be satisfied and get the fish ive desired.il keep you all updated. wish me luck samuk!

In a big enough tank, fish will leave other fish alone. In the wild, african cichlids get their own little piece of territory in a lake, and its not too big. As long as the tank is big enough, the fish will be fine. As long as no fish goes into the others territory there will be no problems.

By the way, i also dont agree with keeping african cichlids with other fish, but you keep them with a pleco SamUK. (i know the pleco can handle them because of the armor plating though). If his tank is working with no agression between the fish, i dont see whats wrong with it. Its probably like with pufferfish, every now and then theres one puffer that can live with other fish even though most would kill everything else.
