Hi all,
Just thought I'd post a few pics of my tank :) Hope you like the pictures
This is a newly set up tank by the way, and my first attempt lol.
I'll add real plants hopefully when I research a bit more on them :good:

First attempt at setting it up:

This is what the tank is like now after some alterations:

I like the way it was in the first picture. In any case, I think it looks very nice. What are you going to stock it with?

I ummmed and arrred about changing it back! lol, but i thought it needed a bit more hiding places. lol The second picture does not do the setup any justice now though I must admit lol. Thanks for the input!
I've not decided what to stock it with yet, considering a community tank with neon or cardinal tetra, some rainbowfish, german ram pair, a pleco or 2 depending on size.
But knowing me i'll be changing my mind all the time! ill keep you all updated on what i decide.

i like the setup of it, very nice. i'm not a fan of coloured gravel, i much prefer natural gravel. well actually i much prefer sand really.
it will be good to see pictures once it is stocked :)

I'm with you on that, sand it the way to go :good:

The only comment I would make is, try and keep the decorations similar, you have bogwood and a few different types of rocks, I would have gone with bogwood and maybe all slate or river stones.

as for the blue gravel get rid of it, basically as it can cause stress to some bottom dwelling fish. black gravel or normal play sand would look immense in that tank, what are you going to stock it with? hopefully not guppies and such like, something cool, like snakeheads or puffers :) or polypertus

Nice tank u hvae. But sorry to say i dont like blue gravel. But your plants are very nice.

Hey all,
Thanks for the comments. I must admit, the lady at the LFS said blue gravel would look good so I just went with that. But to be honest, it did dawn on me that it would have looked amazing with sand or natural fine gravel!! I'm just a bit dissapointed that Its taken this(a picture) for me to realise I should have gone with my instincts. She just made it out to be something it wasn't  Oh well, we all have to start somewhere and work our way up! :good:
Thanks for the replies, feel free to keep commenting! :) Oh by the way a background has been put on after that pic was taken.

and just a note for you if you go with sand DON'T buy the stuff in the LFS, go to B&Q or some place like that, and get childrens play sand, its like £3 for a huge bag, unlike the LFS stuff which is £15 for a little bag. and its the same stuff.

There are a lot of rules to follow with sand, before putting in the tank, if you would like to know just ask :)

Ok I could research on how to do it but ill ask your advise as you have got sand in yours (i presume lol ) :)
Whats the most common mistakes or rules for putting sand in a tank.
How would I clean it?How deep do I have the layer of sand? etc  I havn't got a clue with using sand as you can tell!
