Hi everyone, here's a few pictures of my tank taken tonight.

It's a low tech tank, Juwel Rekord 60 with the standard lighting (Dennerle Special Plant tube), Hagen C02 system and a lighting period of 4 hours on, three hours off, four hours on. I previously had this tank with 3 wpg and some more demanding plants but then I suffered from BGA about 6 months or so ago, since then I've gone back to low tech low light. It's nothing complicated just a tank for enjoyment.

The plants are nothing too demanding, just cabomba, vallis, hygro, riccia and a couple of moss balls.

I have the tank sort of split into two parts at the surface with a piece of plastic mesh - the top left has dwarf riccia floating with the C02 ladder under it, this riccia is used for putting on slates when it gets thick enough. Then the rest of the tank is a cove type layout.....

Here's the tank without the hood to help explain:

Taken from above to show the cove (inspired by the left hand side of Jimbooo's 40G tank) on the right - hard to tell but you get the idea:

The riccia is then tied to slates with hairnets:

Hygro - which started out as a few little cuttings:

.....and that's it for now, I posted some fish pics here if you want a look, would be nice to see what you all think of the layout though :)

Looks pretty neat Sime you have hidden the filter nicely.........thats a lot or riccia you have floating, it grows pretty quick when floating like that, how much light have you over the tank and another question how do you find the filter? personally i think its a POS, and how easy do you find it to achieve 30ppm with the diy co2 in that tank, im setting up a Reckord 60 ATM and just wondering, but im going to ditch the filter thats for sure.

But lookin good sime for somebody who gave up on planted tanks not so long ago id say its a result, doesnt look like you have any algae either (other than algae balls......just in case any smartalec states the obvious B) )

Hi Zig,

I change the CO2 every week - I get about 20 ppm but it keeps algae away, if it drops for a few days I soon get a bit coming onto the vallis leaves.

Sorry what does POS mean? I find the filter pretty good realy, I've read they aren't powerful enough for the tank but I have no issues with it - fine for me.

It's a 12 gallon tank and there's the normal lighting in there - I think it's 15 watts.

Yeah the riccia grows pretty fast on the surface, there's not a lot of light so it's not mega growth like some people's - but it does good on the floor too which suprises me.

Thanks for commenting!

EDIT: ok just worked out what POS is :*)
