Just been down the LFS to get some plants and stones, I have a 120L tank with ex700 external filter.

Made a list of the fish we liked, as follows:

Albino Rainbow Shark
Silver Shark
Glass Catfish *
Clown Loach *
Red Fin Shark
Angel Fish
Pink Kissing Gourami *
Neon Tetra
Robin Gourami
Gold Nugget Pleco
Black Ghost Knife
Pentazona Barb
Extra Large Gold Rams *

* = preference

Which ones should I have and of how many?
Any help appreciated!

:good:

once the tank is fully cycled you can add the fish but the ones in your list are not the hardiest of fish, may i recommend something like zebra danios or mollys, if your lfs is a good one they should be able to tell you what first hardy fish you should get

Hi there! here's my two pence worth :>

Albino Rainbow Shark No - can be aggrssive, not an ideal community fish
Silver Shark - No grow very large, are skittish and like to shoal...
Glass Catfish - excellent choice, but need a shoal, and some floating plants make ideal shelter for them.
Clown Loach - Also grow very big (bulky) and are greedy, like to shoal, sensitive to water conditions/treatments
Red Fin Shark - worse than albino rainbow shark!!
Angel Fish - Grow big and can get pugnacious, not ideal for the community
Pink Kissing Gourami - grows huge and can also get pugnacious
Neon Tetra - perfect, peaceful, need good water conditions and peaceful tankmates.
Robin Gourami - prsuming this is a dwarf guorami, honey or opaline varient... can be prone to disease, can become a bully/bullied member.
Gold Nugget Pleco - No experience, but plecos ingeneral vary from the rowdy to the extremely peaceful.
Black Ghost Knife - Bad choice, will get big quickly and eat all your fish.
Pentazona Barb - no experience
Extra Large Gold Rams - rams can be aggressive/territorial.

sounds like you need to get hold of some fish books from the library/shop and go on fish base. also in the sticky threads at the top of this forum is info on some of your fish...

Because of the size of your tank, as already mentioned, there are really only 2 species, the neons and glass catfish that are definitely ok. I have had angels in my 75 gallon community tank with tetras, corys and SAEs without any problem so I dont think aggression is an issue but they will eventually need a larger tank. The rams would probably be ok as you wouldn't have any more bottom dwellers.

As far as how many fish you can have, the 1" per gallon guide is a good start. It isn't set in stone but if you adhere to it, you shouldn't hae problems with overcrowding.

You don't plan to throw them in your tank all at once, now are you? I say this, because the title of your thread is: "My Tank Is Nearly Ready For Fish". But the truth of the matter is; it's never ready for fish unless you manually added ammonia and even then it's still a guessing game. Put those fish in the tank short after one another and sure will get ammonia and nitrite spikes.
