My Tank 3 Months On, What Do You Think?

Well I have brought some new carbon for my filter, bit more expensive than i thought, but it is doing great!

I have seen purigen on the net before and looks very good might have to get some later on, espec as it can be cleaned off and used again! which is fantastic!

Personally I can't remember how I got rid of my tannins. I think I emptied my tank for a different reason and filled it again with fresh water, put the wood pack and the tannins had stopped.

lol well I do not want to empty out the whole tank, be a very bad idea for me hehe

Well it looks like the carbon is really kicking in which is great, however I have just posted in another area, regarding one of my fish which has lost its whole tail fin! no idea how, it was fine last night and then wake up and its gone! Unsure if its fin rot, but i cannot see how it is as I treated my tank last week for white spot, and the medication clears that up to, so I am a little unsure!

To be fair black backgrounds look the best, blue is a poor second and those awful printed ones...well each to their own, but those people have have real bad taste.

Well tank is still fairly murky, did have carbon in my filter which helped a little bit, but had to take it out now. I just wish I could view all my fish in their glory with colours just shining through but hey that will come in time i suppose.

However I did go through a time with a bit of algae trouble but i turned my lights down by a few hours which has helped massively and i brought a few ottos which seem to love the plants and the glass lol, well every little helps to keep my glass clean hehe saves me time!!

Just wondering though I decided to keep the hood off today and obv kept the lights on to get some air circulating around it instead of keeping it closed and it has made the room smell very earthy is this right to be this strong? I did a partial water change on monday too

Tank loks really swell mate Shame about murky water though!!! I think a natural background would really set it off but Black is nice too! Not a fan of blue!!!

I know i get a bit dissapointed as i still am really struggling to get rid of the murkyness and also my plants dont look that healthy!

I have a plant food which i give them but i dunno if its co2 well lack of lol

Any ideas on what i can do for the plants and water?

hi, no idea about your plants - just thought i'd say that your tank is looking nice!
I have the same problem with the tannis - tried soaking my bogwood for AGES!! Still tans the water, the fish like it though so that's fine!

Looking good and about tannings, i have 2 expriences with mopani, one i soaked for days in hot water and it tanned the water, the other i just chucked in (wasnt botherd about tannings) and it did absolutly nothing so guess its just pot luck, either way isnt a real problem as far as the fish are concerned.
