I was just asking for some ideas on my stocking list:

1 Scott's Fairy Wrasse
2 Ocellaris Clownfish
3 Blue/Green Chromis
1 Bicolor Pseudochromis
2 Gobies of Assorted types (Any ideas?)
1 Firefish

So thats my fish list, as I said, its going to be a 55 gallon reef tank. I'm not sure of Invertabrates i'm going to have and the Corals I may go with are LPS, SPS, and Zoos.
Is that all the fish I should have, or could I go with anymore?

Thanks,

Joel.

if ur gonna have sps i would ditch the coral beauty as they can nip corals sometimes

Im aware of the hazards of purchasing a coral beauty, but i'm going to take my chances, if it does not turn of for the best, I will return the fish.

I said the same thing with a flame angel when I started Joel. Took me 3 painful days to finally trap the fish . I'd never want to have to do that again.

Then what would you suggest? I would like a larger show fish for the centerpiece of the tank. Reefsafe of course :D

Joel.

Ski would probably suggest a wrassse. I'll suggest a jawfish. You'd need a deeper sand bed in a part of your tank, though.

A wrasse would probably be a better centerpiece, though.

Also, from what I've read, many people with chromis tend to end up with one. Sometimes it takes up to a year, but one always kills all of the others.

Hmmm. I know at the LFS the had a something Fairy Wrasse... (someones name?) how would those be?

I thought Chromis were schooling fish.. why would they kill each other?

chromis are damsels, and in small numbers the aggression will be more concentrated and envutually they will start to kille achother

I just found out that the Wrasse I saw was a Scott's Fairy Wrasse.

That's really odd that Chromis would do that since my LFS told me they were schooling fish.. So would it be better to see how the three chromis act with each other, or just get some different damsel species? I'm kind of partial to three-lined dansel.

Also does anyone have any ideas as to what gobies I should buy?

I know of many instances in which chromis killed each other, but I also know of a comparable amount (and seen in person) of instances in which the coexisted perfectly well. I guess that until we find out the real cause for the killings it will remain a gamble to keep a group of chromis.

i also thought chromis were a nice peacefull fish until i purchased two bi-colour chromis and the bigger of the two killed the other one within a week... i ended up having to purchase 6 of them so they wouldnt fight but then it became to over stock and i spent alot of time trying to trap them to give them back close to two months before i decided to take down the entire reef just to catch them...... IMO dont get them unless you want alot of them

A Scott's fairy wrasse (or any kind of fairy wrasse for that matter) would do just fine in a 55g :D

I disagree; many species max out at less than 6''. However, anthias are certainly at their best in a group; something a 55 gallon cannot support. For that reason I do not recommend them for a 55 gallon, though a single specimen could probably be kept in one.
