So where to begin? Over the last four months I really been swept into becoming a fish keeping hobbyist. It all started with myself and my girlfriend getting an apartment and thinking a fish tank would look good in the lounge. I'd always kept fish as a small kid but hadn't so much as seen a tank in the last 7 years and forgot almost everything I ever knew. We started out thinking a small 65L biord would look good in the corner of the room but after looking into it seemed these were not always the most pratical homes for fish. Day by day my interest grew until I got to the stage where I wanted to goto every garden centre and LFS whenever time permitted.
To cut a long story short I convinced my other half to have a Roma 125L which is 33 US Gallons. I've spent the last month cycling the tank and now it's finally ready for some fish. We have been set on having a number of different fish throughout the month from a community tank to a species only Fairy Cichlid tank. We compromised on Saulosi as they have the colour my girlfriend was looking for and the interest factor which appeals to me.
Tomorrow I'm traveling to see some Saulosi and potentially buying some fry or a breeding group
As the tank isn't the biggest I won't be having many. After research I have found that the general consensus for a tank my size would be no more than 8 or 9. With a ratio of atleast 1m:3f.
I've spent alot of time trying to create a scape that will be a good habitat for them allowing them to create alot of little territories. I finally finished the tank today by adding a pure black background. Below I have attached a few pics of the setup and will post more when the fish are added. Enjoy and any advice welcome.
