My Salvini...2 Wilds And 1 Domestic

hey guys. here are some pictures of my salvini babies. of the non-african cichlids we keep in that mixed tank, they are by far the most colorful fish. they have really grown on me over the last couple of months

can you tell the sexes of the fish based on these pictures?

first up is my latest addition. caught this one 11/09/09 and had to bring it home because it had the most intense coloration of any salvini I have seen or caught. I think this is a female...

tonight (16 days later):

this gone is the biggest of my three salvini. this is also a wild specimen, caught 09/12/09. i believe it's a male?

and a group shot. bottom left is the "new" salvini. top right is my original salvini, purchased from Exotic Aquariums and identified online as female.

sexing sal's is pretty easy....the female has a patch in the centre of her dorsal fin and a spot on the lower part of her gill cover. Females also usually have more red on their bellies...males have the longer pointy fins usually...very nice
