My Rescue

It seems to stay pretty golden looking while he swims around. Currently his tank light is off because I'd read that the velvet bacteria needs light to survive. Have you ever had a bout with velvet?

It's probably velvet, then. To be honest, I might have and I haven't noticed it. My third CT, Phoenix, died from what looked like a sudden outbreak of columnaris, but he also had goldish-green fins, so it might have been velvet. I lost most of my fish from dropsy, so to be honest, I can't tell you a real example, but here's a picture (not from me, credit to Pandora's Aquarium)

I don't notice a lot of the flecks on his scales, mostly just on his fins. Those pics make me wish I had a magnifying glass.

I'm sorry to hear about your other bettas. I'm starting to wonder if I'm just paranoid from reading about all the things that can happen!

He loved some live mosquito larvae. I just put out a dish for the mosquitos to mate in and two days later we have perfect sized larvae. He already ate four pellets, so h e could only eat a bit, be he loved 'em. He doesn't eat bloodworms, so live is a nutritional treat.

He seems to be doing better. I haven't noticed his fins getting better, but I don't know, it's only been two days. I added some more Maracyn, so I guess I add some more for the next three days. Do I just stop treating then, or do I continue if he still looks bad? He's much more active, loves looking at Ares but not flaring/// Maybe I should get another Petsmart betta, I know you aren't supposed to buy from them, but it's addicting, so addicting. He's being fed mostly mosquito larvae and a pellet here and there, hopefully it'll condition him for health. I think his colors are as good as they are gonna get now, he's still really pretty, I like his butterfly coloring.
