Every 6 months or so, I go to a big department pet store and buy a fish that needs help. Obviously all the fish in the store need help, because all of them are infested with internal and external parasites, and some have serious bacterial infections, but I can only save so many. I actually just started this project, and my first rescued fish is an albino molly.

Yes, she is pretty healthy, she just was picked on by some aggressive male mollies. I wasn't ready to take in a fish that was super sick just yet. I will in another 6 months.

And yes, she is in her own tank. I know this project is not the greatest, but it makes me feel good that I can do something very little that can help the fish so much.

Please post pics of your rescued fish if you have any.
Thanks.

I don't "rescue" fish. I have no problem working to make the fish recover and become healthy but have a serious problem encouraging a store that does not look after their fish. I would much rather they go bankrupt and let people who care about their fish stay in business. I especially avoid buying fish from places that keep their bettas in little plastic cups, there are dividers that can be used in larger tanks to separate male bettas and there is no excuse for letting them just die in the cups.

Okay. I guess you have a good point, and I thought about that, but I like doing it, whether I'm encouraging the fish store or not, I am helping a fish, and that makes me feel good. Plus, that molly had 26 fry this morning, so that makes me feel even better.

(The black fry in the pic above is not a newborn.)
