My Recently New Beginner Tank

I know...I am looking to get a 4ft tank ASAP but just can't find one on my budget....Meaning a cheap one

But i have

2-golden Garami's 3"-4"
2- red fin sharks 5"-6"
5 silver dollars biggest is 4" wide
2 angel fish about 4" wide
an oscar 5"-6"
and 2 plecs about 4"

It's a but much for my 3ft tank right now but i am looking for that 4 footer.

Even with the four footer (which im not sure how many gallons that is) you still may have some problems with the oscar and angels. It would problebly benefit the whole tank if the oscar was sold or given away. And be careful, the silver dollars may freighten the angelfish with there fast movements and skitishness. Other then that it'll be fine with the 4ft, or maybe even the 3ft if I knew how many gallon that was :p

Sorry i should have said that the 4ft tank will be to house Oscar. And when i get the tank i will buy another oscar to go with the one i have.

The silver dollars and angels have been together for 3 months now and seem to get along fine for now.

What volume though? It could be a 4 foot 40 gallon...which would be far too small, or a 4 foot 10000 gallon (could be really tall :p)

What kind of plecs are they? If they're commons, the min tank they should be in is 4ft x 18" x 18", and that would be for one - preferably bigger for two as big plecs (they can and do get to 12-18") can be quite territorial. And two oscars would need an absolute minimum of 75g (which would be the 4ft x 18" x 18", but most oscar owners would recommend 90-100g min as a better size) with no companions - with two plecs, you'd be looking at at much bigger (say 130g+) - but then you could get away with a shoal of silver dollars too (maybe 6-7). ;)

If they are commons, I'd rehome one, and put one in with one oscar in a 75g/4ft x 18" x 18". If you went for a 4 x 2 x 2ft, you might get away with two oscars provided they were a bonded pair, but still only one plec. You might be able to squeeze in the silver dollars then too. It'd mean a lot of tank maintenance though - possibly twice weekly water changes (not your little 10% ones either, more like 30%), and some really good filtration. Many oscar owners recommend filtering for the tank size x 10 (ie if your tank is 75g - get filtration that will cover for a tank up to 750g!), but I think that might be a bit OTT. I'd certainly get enough to cover double the tank size though at least.

Good luck - post more piccies please - especially of those plecs ;)

They are common plecs they i have now.
I just got my 4ft tank today. It's a Juwel Rio 240. When it cycles i will be putting in my oscar and i will be buying another oscar to go with it. And possibly 2 common plecs. Unless someone would reccommend some other type of alge eater ????

|will post more pics in a few min

Weird, i've been told Oscars are okay in a 50 by themselves. :dunno:

Some people say 50. Others say 75. Some people have had no problems with them being in a 50. They are probably experienced.
I wouldnt put 2 Oscars in a 50 or a 75 by the way.
