My Pregnant Guppy

~ hey ~ I have a pregnant guppy that has had her gravid spot for about a couple weeks and it keeps getting darker and darker so i bought some colorful rocks and a small plant and put her and the rocks and the plant in a one gallon critter keeper and she has seem to be doing fine, as she is going crazy swimming back and forth and go fast so i was wondering if she was about to drop becuase she does that for a minute and then she calms down and then does it again but so far none have popped out!

Is this an okay place for now as it is the best i can do!

Darting back and forth may be a sign of stress, did you move her from a larger tank into this one? Watch her carefully since stress can cause a female to hold her fry in or abort. When a female is ready to give birth she'll generally become moody, hide a lot, and spend a lot of time at the bottom of the tank. Good luck, I have some pregnant girls now myself, 2 swordtails and 3 platies.

she went from a breeder to this! she is now starting to calm down and hide behind the plant and sit on the bottom!

It's possible, some females are different than others. I had one who gave no signs of being ready to give birth and then one day I had 14 fry, lol. But it sounds like she may be quite close. Good luck!!!

thanks she has not given birth yet and now she is swimming around the plant, so i do not know!

I will post a pic in a little bit!
