hi im new to fish and friday i was given 3 guppys 2 female that was pregnant and a male. i got up this morning and the male was dead and iv just found one of the females dead in the breeding net. anybody have any answers. thanks

Fish in cycle. You have a very high concentration of Ammonia in your tankwater.

Is the tank filtered? what size is it? you need to change 50% of the water immediately, buy a test kit, and read the threads below

What is cycling?
The nitrogen cycle

If you don't put the effort in over the next few weeks you will lose your last fish and prob give up on the hobby... If you put the effort in now you will soon find yourself with very healthy and happy fish and will get loads of enjoyment from keeping them

My tank has been set up since June. Iv checked the nitrite and amonia levels they are fine. my tank is 3 foot i dont know how many gallons it said 80 litres i think. i shall do a 50 % water change in the morning now.

the tank is also filtered

thanks for the advice anyway but i think i had that covered. could she have died of stress.

it could have been stress
personally i just dont like breeding nets/traps if you want to save the fry you could have provided loads of floating plants for the fry to hide in,i go for this option as it is also survival of the fittest or you will be overrun with guppies.

you say you have had the tank since june, have you just let it sit like that with water or have you added ammonia to get the cycle going. As mentioned above you could be doing a fish in cycle

are there any other fish in your tank and what are your readings for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate

my nitrite is 0.1
my amonia is 0.6
my nitrate is 5

When i set up the tank i put in filter start and kept adding it like i was told to.

I got up this morning and the other guppy had died.

In my tank now i have

2 mollies
12 platies
6 danios
6 barbs
and 2 loach things

all the fish get along.

Iv done a 50% waterchange and added nutrifin cycle .

The reason why i have breeding nets in my tank is because my platies keep having fry and i cant save them bytime i notice them. the tank also has live plants in.

my results on my test kit said just to add the nutrifin cycle because it was under a 1.2

yep it sounds like you are going through a cycle
you are going to have to do water changes water changes and more water changes

that ammonia reading is enough to kill fish, best thing to do is a 50% water change to get that ammonia down and dont feed your fish every day
basically your tank is cycling unless you have readings of 0 for ammonia and no2

do u use dechlorinator? have u ever let tapwater touch ur filter media? what filter do u have in the tank? I'd steer clear of the nutrifin cycle..it is literally useless

You are in the middle of a fish-in cycle as evidenced by the ammonia and nitrite readings. You need to start doing big enough water changes, using dechlorinator and nothing else, to keep the ammonia and nitrites both under 0.25 ppm all the time. That will mean doing a large water change before you get that high so that even right before a water change things are safe for your fish. Your tank is fully stocked and not fully cycled which means that you will keep losing fish unless you can maintain adequate water changes.

No Dont use water tests i have used them before and they are no good have your local fish stire test your water for you for free and have them tell you what to do well still use the fourm but no test kits it's a waste of money when you can get accurate reading for free a t your loca fish store bring a sample inp a little container and say can you please test my water and when there done doing that they should give you the readings on a peice of paper.

I don't think i'd go through a C section just to save fry after the mum has died!!
