Here is a pic of my Bowfin
2dueazt.jpg

Bowfins are found throughout the Eastern United States, typically in slow-moving backwaters, canals and ox-bow lakes.

And my longnosed gar

longnosed gar are found in rivers and lakes throughout the eastern half of the United States, as far north as southern Quebec and extreme southern Ontario in the Great Lakes and as far south as northern Mexico. The most concentrated numbers of longnose gars are found throughout the American Deep South, Texas, Alabama (Cahaba River system) and anywhere along the Mississippi River. Longnose Gar are found in warm, shallow water with abundant vegetation. They are most easily caught during the early evening hours as thats when they start actively feeding at the waters surface.

The bowfin, the gar, and sturgeons are among the few ancient freshwater fishs that were around when T-Rex was in diapers.
Bowfin are particularly nasty predators, and are strictly ambush killers, they will give you a figt on light tackle as strong or stronger than any large mouth Bass.

:good: stunning fish mate nice to see a new predator keeper on here

Hi'

The bowfin pic is a little dark, as Simon said it's good to have some predator keepers on here. I had a florida gar, a bunch of bichir's (all pretty acient) and a couple of stingrays (not quite as old but still really old)
I find it fasinating how they have survied for soo long.

Nice Collection :D
