Help! My poor betta's been getting his fins shredded! I did some research when it first started happening and I think the part was because some of the decorations had some edges that were sharper than I thought, plus a broad leafed plastic plant that can be pointy from the sides of the leaves. I've since yanked those out and replaced them with all soft plants/rounded rock decorations, but he still seems to lose chunks periodically and I don't think its from him chewing on them...

I've got him in a 6 gallon tank with a couple of african dwarf frogs, and they normally get along completely fine. I rotate brine shrimp, betta pellets/shrimp pellets (for the frogs), glass worms, and blood worms throughout the week with one day off (to "clean their tubes" as I've seen people call it) to keep them all fed and happy. I've noticed that on the brine shrimp or bloodworm nights that its really hard to keep any of the food at the top for the betta, so he ends up munching on the food in the frog dish. The bigger female frog is pretty bossy and she sometimes takes nips at him to shoo him off till she's done. I'm guessing that the chunks I'm seeing him lose are from her, but I dont know how to keep some of the food floating so everyone can eat in peace... Anyone have any ideas? Preferably one that doesn't involve getting rid of anyone?

Melafix heals fins very well, but I don't know how the frogs would react to it. Try asking about that in the amphibian section .

Better yet, set up a large-ish clear plastic storage tub as a hospital tank if you can ( one that is roughly 12 inches X 12 X 10 will do for a short period ). With a cheap 25 watt heater and sponge filter ( Ebay ) and some silk plants to hide in. You can treat the betta with melafix in that with no risk to your frogs.
