Okay, so heres the deal.

I put my Small Gibbicep into my 200 litre last night. In the 200 litre are 4 Kribs, 4 Rams, 1 Golden Gourami and 3 Burmese Border Loach.
This morning I woke up to find that its tail has been severely damaged  Im praying to god that it is not the dreaded fin rot, but to be honest I don't think it is anyway. The time between introducing the fish and finding the fish injured was approx 16 hours. So is it possible for fin rot to work so fast? The water condition is pretty good and the levels are good.

So does this mean, like im suspecting, it was one of the other fish who carried out an attack on the small pleco?

Any help aprreciated much.

Thanks, James

EDIT: I have put the pleco in the tank it was in before for the time being.

The biggest of the bunch is around 4 inches. The rest are between 2 and 3.

Is there a possibility that fin rot could do what it has done in 16 hours?
The tail used to be fan like, but now its more streaky. Does not look nice to be hoenest.

James.

Keep a look out for nipping.

Bacterial finrot can progress fast.

Signs of finrot are.
Translucent fins, or cloudy looking fins.
Excess slime on fins.
Holes in fins.
White, pink, red eding to fins.
Red streaking in fins.
Fins falling apart, or coming off in chunks.
White fluffy eding to fins.

I woke up this morning to find my pleco has passed away in the night.

Pretty gutted to be honest.

Cause of death still unknown, I examined his body before I sent him on his way, and none of the above you listed Wilder applied to him. So im guessing an attack from a Krib? is the culprit. Unfortunately my Pleco never recovered :(

Thanks for your help anyway. James
