My Planted Adventure Journal

i thought as much, so does that mean to cool it with the co2 also(which is now ordered) instead of 1bps should i go for 1 bubble every two or even three seconds?
Your best bet with the CO2 is to get the right levels nailed from the word go. Messing about with it and getting fluctuating levels will be to the benefit of algae and the detriment of your plants. Algae reacts and adapts to fluctuating circumstances much more rapidly than your plants.

My next tank is going to have the CO2 steady and above 30ppm from the start to promote greater plant growth. Obvoiusly it will gradually be reduced to 30ppm when I start to think about adding the fish.

What CO2 system have you bought?

You can get plants online:

The Tropica plants are quite expensive, but the quality is first class. My line of thinking is that when I fill a new tank with fast growing stems I buy cheap from Greenline, but once I start to add my first choice plants and specimen plants, I go for Tropica.

its a home made system, i say home made i have a bodyshop so the welding supplier is sending me a 10litre co2 bottle with the regulator and also a fine adjustment valve which also tells you how much is going out, then its going to be placed on the new bubble counter/diffuser i bought.

how do i test the ppm? is it the 24hr test thing i've read of?

im going to get the cheap plants to start with but i need to know what the fast growers look like aswell as there crazy names haha

going to get my guttering to create the lighting rig in a min

these are the guttering light units to sit ontop of the tank, they double up as really good reflectors too, hats off to the fish shop guy
