Well, my tank is not cycled and I'm holding off an ammonia spike by using zeolite.

I was wondering if I could cycle a filter in a ten gallon and then put that filter right in my current tank. It would be much less harmful to the fish than to remove the zeolite and hope for the best, no?

And if I could do this, I would be able to fully stock right of the bat, right?

That would work fine. Since you would be cycling the filter in the 10 gallon and then moving it to the 29 gallon, I'm not certain if you would have enough bacteria to fully stock the 29 gallon or not but you should definitely have enough to handle the waste of the fish you currently have. You could then add 3 or 4 more a week without any problem.
