Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum and I have been a betta owner for a few years now. I have researched them, and I really want to start breeding them. I just wanted to ask those that have bred bettas if they have any advice for new breeders? Attached is a plan of my shelving system that I am going to build.. Tanks will all be 20 gallons, the males will be divided into 3 or 4 sections. Those tanks wont have filters because my tanks are consistent at the right temp. I will have heaters for the two breeding tanks, along with a sponge filter. Growouts should have the heaters when the breeding is done and when they are moved. I have a question because I see many people dont put gravel in their betta tanks...? What is best, gravel or no gravel?

no subsrate is best in the breeding tanks so the male can collect the eggs easily, no reason you can't have it in growouts just people find it easier to clean bare bottomed tanks :good:

Alright, Thank you :) I want to do Marbles or Dragons....

O ya Louiseness, they wont have heaters..Sorry about the error..And thats great lilfishie

No gravel is easier to clean etc, so i'd go for no gravel. Like the OP said feel free to have it in the grow out tanks :good:

No filters? I think he meant heaters  ...(I hope?!) ;)
