Beautiful female. She has very vibrant colorations :good: (can tell shes a female from the shorter tip of the dorsal fin and the heavier density of color spots on her gills)

EDIT: Just noticed the o behind her in the first pick. How big is she?

thanks guys she is nice....shes about 5 inches at mo...oscar the oscar is about 6inchs.......how big will she get?
will she go dark like you see pictures of jacks ??
she has red edging around the tops of her dorsal fins, this is correct?

If she gets dark it's because she feels threatened or scared. It happens from an emotional response. If your fish is normally a tan to purple than it is happy and healthy. The color spots should always be vibrant but the stripes will appear as I said, as an emotional response.

The red edge of the fin is typical and I think adds a beautiful touch to their fins

The jd will get roughly 6 to 8 inches at most and the o can get upwards of 10 to 12 inches. keep an eye on them when they are both full grown as the jd might begin to bully the o. Yes, the o is bigger but usually they are the ones getting picked on.

And again, she is very beautiful :good:

thanks for the advice ox54 she was only a little dark on the day i got her....shes fine at this moment she only has prob with the green terror which might be getting housed into another tank.....my oscars are deffinatly the domm pair of the tank but as always i watch them all the time to see were the aggro goes......yea thought the red was a nice touch but read somwhere that was males only...

umm Jack Dempseys getting dark doesn't mean stress, alot of fish change color to lighter or darker based on the enviroment, it's used for camoflaush, stress has nothing to do with it, I had my old dempsey (RIP) in a 55gallon tank, and because I had one side moonlight and the other regular light along with black gravel, he was darker than usual... Water stats were fine, and the only other tank mate at the time was a Jellybean parrot baby (originally ment to be culled due to a birth defect, but she refused to be eaten-- one of my fav fish now lol--) Also, for dempseys you're looking at around 7-8" on average... this isn't to say she won't get larger or stay smaller, that's just to give you a bit of a visual for your own knowledge :good:
