it may look like a small circle but it really is big. at least he graduated from a 1/2 gallon marina betta tank to a 4 gallon biOrb so it's certainly a more amazing space for him.
i don't know why people assume the fish will swim in a circle as they can zip in the middle, as in the diameter, of the sphere, which in peaceful's case, he does, or zip up and down.
i think it is in the curiosity of the fish to come up with ways to entertain themselves as long as we provide them with some plants or obstacles that can help them establish their own favorite ways of swimming.
if they can swim in a straight line in a rectangular tank or even in a mini bowl, which would be a smaller version of a bigger sphere, i don't see why people would think one would be more exciting over the other.

so far the boy betta is having a great time in there. which would make me be inclined to buy another two in phases for the other girls.
