nice site

does geocities support FrontPage?

There are two problems with the advice on setting tanks up ive spotted immiedietly, first is that you tell people to just run the tank for a week and then test the water.

11. leave for about a week

12. Test the water for ammonia, nitrate nitrite.
    If the test are
    Ammonia - 0ppm
    Nitrite - 0ppm
    Nitrate - less than 10ppm
Then go to step 13 If not then go to next step

Of course the parameters will be zero if you havent started a cycle, running a filter with nice clean RO water is doing absolutley nothing!

Second you advise people to cycle with neon tetras a they are "hardy fish",

Go and buy 6 "hardy fish" these can be tetras or  platties. Most beginners start with the common neon tetra or different colour platties I started with neon tetras.

Neons and other tetras are not a hardy fish and should not be added to a tank less than 6 months old.

I'd add a disclaimer so when an unsuspecting beginner reads your site and kills all his fish they can't sue you or something.

Also, it just looks like you've passed the whole page through a spell checker without even checking the grammar or the meaning of the words at all. For example "What is acceptable is the following: overdoes of antistatic.". I don't think overdoes'ing it with anti-static is going to do anything.

I'd forget about the message board idea, if you have nothing unique to offer that one of the other already populated boards on the net can't offer nobody will sign up anyway.

The actual colours of the site are pretty good for a beginner, i've seen so much worse, cyan text on yellow background etc ;)

HTH

I agree with all the above

As starter fish you can use zebra danios, leopard danios and white cloud mountain minnows.

You may want to use a spell checker, if you want it to look more proffessional and how about adding the scientific names of the fish you name

overall very good. :D

Silly me said:
mollys, they would also eat any algae, if you dont feed them for the first week or two
The tank wouldn't really have built up algae in a week, black mollies would not be good IMO as they are sensitive, not sure about others.

I'd say zebrea danios.

TJ - You say to add flakes to the water and leave for 2 weeks. I am confused, hte amonia level has to be maintained until the nitrItes rise, is that not right. I do not see how sticking some food in the tank and eaving it for 2 weeks is going to cycle the tank.

I can see problems with mis-information and half truths on the page. Like leaving 6 months before adding bottom feeders. Fish that eat algae need a mature tank but not other bottom feeders as these are fed in their own right.

Looks like this:

The lighting in a aquarium serves two purposes, one for aquatic plants to photosynthesise and two for aesthetic reasons, of course you want to see and admire your fishes. The amount of lighting for a planted aquarium would be anything from 2 watts per gallon up to 4 or 5 depending on the type of plants you have. If you do not have plants then it is just personal preference to the amount of lighting you have in the tank.

has been copied from somewhere else because of the different size/font and it doesn't read like the rest.

Sorry, don't mean to pick your site to pieces. You should just be more careful with things like this.

It's a little hard to read, but it looks okay.

You said the 2 basic types of lighting are florescent and the normal light bulb. What about incandescent? (I'm sure I spelled those wrong)

And can you copy from other sites, because it looks like you copied the heater section too.

I don't mean to be totally negative, I'm just pointing out a few things.

Once again, sorry to be negataive as for a first attempt it's pretty good, but you can use an external filter on a corner tanks. I have a Fluval 204 and the standard Juwel filter running in my corner tank!!
