Brilliant!

I adore art like that, it is really good!

I took design and illustration in college, but decided to do photography at uni in the end..

:good:

Awesome, pretty simple but it works. Has a very light feel to it when browsing, and the Graphics are just as awesome.

Designer eh?

Have you read David Aireys book? It's a really good read and gives an insight into his logo design process. It's called logo design love. And there's a free chapter sample at the logo design love website.

As for the site? It looks like a portfolio site...

Ha thanks guys :)

I kept the website pretty basic because Im looking for a job and Ive read numerous times that if you over complicate sites it can really #101## people off and sometimes people wont hire you because they think your doing well enough on your own, Im hoping Ive found a happy middle point.

Have to admit not seen that book in the past but I recognize him from the Helvetica movie...... yes Im that sad I watched a movie about type.... But other good branding books are the Spin "Logo" book and the buro destruct los logos books. The spin one is amazing I saw a lecture by their CD a few years ago and it was just amazing its what kept me in graphic design.

I'd recommend it. It's the only logo design book I've been impressed with. It doesn't feature that many logos but goes through the whole process from dealing with clients, brainstorming, sketching, presenting ideas to clients, making the logo, presenting the final logo to the client. Plus more. And although it's aimed at logos, it doesn't take much imagination to apply it to other forms of design.

As for the site. I agree that simple is best but not for that reason. I say it's because keeping it simple means the work takes the focus, not the site.

And the reason you gave kinda worries me. Don't undersell yourself. If you're a good designer then sell that and don't under charge, and don't be afraid to turn down work if you can see it causing problems later on.

looks good but need to fix a spelling mistake "prings and t-shirts to seel along with live" well i think it is ment to be sell but i may be wrong

Oh yeah dont get me wrong I wont under sell my self but I want people to realise Im not a design agency wanting to merge with them. One of my friends has had to take his site down and cut it to a blog because people kept sending him CVs looking for a job haha. Right now for client work you have to under charge because thats just student rates. Right now Im looking for a design and/or marketing job applied for one at a local theater that I really really want Ive done some work for them in the past so hoping that will grease the wheels a bit.

The design process you said about is all Im doing right now Ive posted off competition entries and now Ive got to go back on my self because I was working too fast to show all my working and how I got this idea and why I did that its such a pain. Im really hoping in industry you can just do the process in your head and not have to show your working, design courses are really like maths exam papers in a way lol.

ha yeah someone told me about it today but I forgot it haha thanks just fixed it

Oh and one more thing. Watching stuff on type isn't sad. Typography could well be one of the most important things in life. Without it there would be no books. Nothing telling you what is in a tin at the supermarket. "normal people" tend to under estimate how impotant it is.

Do you ever look at Helvetic ultra light and think "she's got sexy i's"???

Lol I have the "Helvetica bold should lighten up" tshirt :p

Are you a designer as well?

*edit just remembered I saw you talking about an architecture course!

Not pro or anything, but have a healthy interest in photograhy, graphic design, web design. Etc.

I've kinda had to since I've always been web and graphic designer and sometimes photographer for all the bands I've been in. Done a fewsites but nothing worth shouting about, and a few posters and stuff.

My gave tshirts are the ones saying I Heart Command Z.
Although if you're a windows user that might needto say control z.
