Go to the Beginner's Resource Center pinned thread and look up "Fishless Cycling" in that forum. Many, many good suggestions. There is a process you really should follow, and if you use these resources your tank will clear up. Promise!

Hello and welcome to the forum.
I noticed you are already getting some good advice in which route to take when cycling your tank. With you having no stock in your tank, in my opinion your in a great position to perform a fishless cycle in order to build up the bacterias which removes toxins(ammonia/nitrite) from your tank waters chemistry. Both me and Aqua Tom have just completed a fishless cycle which as of now has been very rewarding(no fish losses), yes it has been a long journey for both of us but like i said very rewarding in the end. In my signature, bottom of this post you will find some very helpfull links on how to cycle your tank without fish(fishless)or with fish(fish-in).

Keith.
