Hi guys and girls

Got my new tank set up in my new house, and I am well chuffed with it :good: Added some slate in today, had fun with the hammer earlier! Its an aqua-one 200 ish litre, with an external filter, aqua clear powerhead and another air stone. Want to add some moon lighting soon though. I am also running my old internal filter for a month or so while the new filter gets up to speed.

What do you think?

Just giving a honest opinion but i dont like at all, it looks lifeless, think it could do with more in it, maybe some nice plants and something else to make it look nice.

thanks for the replies! That frog has only been in a tank with sand. He has been that fat for about a year now, he slowly grew for about 6 months! He seems pretty healthy enough though, he eats eveything in sight, and mates ALL the time!!!

Well i personally dont like plants in a tank, in my opinion plants are for the garden!

Just a case of 'whatever floats your boat' I guess! :)

Yes i agree, personal prefrence :)

Just thought with you asking what we thought, i would rather be honest that lie :)

Dont get me wrong, i like the big rocks, but its just missing summat :) oh and i like the bogwood :)

thanks mate, yes I love the bogwood too!

I'd like to get a bit of colour in there somehow I think, as I said i'm not overly keen on plants, so perhaps I'll change the background for something a bit more colourful. I'd also like to get some caves or another type of cover for the frogs too :)

What would look good if your going for the rocks and caves look, is to maybe get some more slate (thin pieces) and build up loads of caves across the tank and around the 3 main rock structures, to add colour get some diffrent coloured round rocks and scatter them and place them on secure caves, also maybe adding some java moss on some caves would give it a real good realism look :)

Just a thought .

I love the tank, its very dramatic yet simple. I think you need a better fish selection in there to set it off, i think sharks would look cool, some silvers with a group of smaller scoalling fish, just my opinion. But it does look great

How long has it been set up? Since you said you're running the internal to cycle the external you have a lot of [sensitive] fish in your tank right now, if you added plants it would help to cycle it.

OK so I love the look of the tank, however with that sort of set up you would be better to your fish if you put the right fish in such a biotope. The thing is I know you like the fish you like but most of them do need plants. That poor frog needs a cave too.

good idea that mate, kinda what I was thinking too :good: The tank has only been set up a couple of weeks now, so i'm sure things will evolve!

Yes I will be going for a better selection of fish, These are the fish i've had in 2 smaller tanks for a couple of years now, so once the new filter is properly established, I will slowly add a few more.

Thanks :good:

I got them from Whitehall garden centre in Lacock, near melksham, so not too far from you. If you go to the tills, then out the door to the left where the compost/cement is, they're out there.

I've taken your advice on board, and have aded some plants and a small hideaway today. To be honest, it doesn't look too bad, I still have the hard effect of the slate, but the plants do help to soften it make it look a bit more alive.

Here are some pics.
