Hi there,
Im Luke i registered a few weeks back and haveny had chance to post much, sorry about that. :*)
My other half is penny, she's the saltwater keeper whereas i have tropical freshwater. I bought a tank off a friendly chap off ebay about a week ago now and it was advertised as a Juwel Rio 180 for £50 or £200 buy it now, I waited until the last minute and placed a £50 bid on it and won it, I magine my surprise when i get there to pick it up, that it wasnt actually a Juwel 180 but in fact a Juwel 240 :)
Heres a few pics of it anyway next to my wifes marine tank.

Thats a nice looking tank you have there. What kind of fish do you have in there? What are your plans for it?

Nice surprise indeed, i have a Juwel 240, nice sized tanks... one thing though i want to ask. What type of Airstone do you have that makes the bubbles at the back, i have a Rena made fine one but as the air only go in from one end its got more bubbles (and slightly larger bubbles) on the one side... ive been looking at getting one that perfectly creates similar sized fine bubbles all the way across.

sorry, ive got sailfins in there which keep destroying my plants might i add, :/

also a plec, clown loach, a red tailed shark, neons and some dalmation mollies, oh and a honey gourami, the red tail seems to be fine in there seeing as they can be bullies but he is one of the smallest in there and hes the newest member

Nice Buy, I'm going to have a go on Ebay the next time I need tanks, I've forked out a fortune over the years. (Pre-Internet)
Your hobby is going to grow and grow. I can see you rearing a few livebearer fry in your next new tank.
Regards

From experience i can tell you not to add any Blue Rams in the tank while the Redtail is housed there (they tend to chase Black Phantoms about aswell for some reason... well mine did). Mine was fine until i got rams, fortunatly i was able to re-home my redtail in another tank away from the Rams. When the Shark gets a little bigger and bulkier as you can see in the picture of mine below (they grow quite fast so wont be too long) he will probably lead your Clown Loach astray into the bullying of some tankmates (My Clown Loach was the Sharks best mate and regularly followed the Redtail about and even hassled the Black Phantoms in the same way)... Strangely when i moved the Redtail into another tank my Clown Loach went back to being his normal greedy self :)

One other thing the chasing of the Black Phantoms was not nasty, prolly fun more than anything, however the chasing of the Rams when they were added was nasty. You can sometimes calm a Redtail down if its looking to be aggressive by moving your tank arrangements about, this way the territory they have created will be gone and it takes a little while for them to create a new one.
