im not looking for advice on the fish in this post,as they wont all be staying with me(( they came with the tank)), and have had lots of advice in disscussion bit of the forum- hence them (most of them) going to a new home/s)
anyway i have added plants etc to the tank, this is the first time i have bothered to plant heavily and have never really had any joy with plants in the past,so fingers crossed ( i havent decided on what fish will be in there evetually), i know the fake plants look a bit naff but i just wanted to bulk it out without having to throw any away

anyway honest opinions welcome :) in all areas
just after set up before planting

Gorgeous plants!! What is your watts per gallon? What size is the tank? What do you use for ferts? Do you use co2?

Personnally I like tall plants in the right corner in order to give an allusion of distance, as in a 3 dimension drawing of a house

Apart from the gravel, the tank looks absolutly stunning, GREAT job shelagh, wait isnt that tank 170 litres? It looks like the exact same tank as my puffers are going in

aww cheers Ace, i know the gravel isnt the best, some of it in the pic looks brown, but in the tank its actually shiny black and white mix , ill sort that out when i shift a few of the fish
have no idea of the WPG- ill look at that, and im not doing anything special in the way of food/ferts for the plants, as i have a couple in other tanks, and they seem to grow like mad without (tho long and stringy as a pose to bushy)
i like your opinion about the right hand corner, i have actually got 2 fluval 4+ side by side there (incase anyone thought it was extremely narrow and was a reflection) so ill do that tommorow, ill get some more plants, and im pretty sure its 170L- tho dont quote me ill get it checked and post the answer- i may be lucky and have a larger one

It looks EXACTLY the same, lol no difference, Can yo take a pic of how uve put the lights in the hood please, I see alot of these around. Im wondering who makes them.

The Dimentions are 48x12x18"

see a lot of what around and wonder who makes what?? and hows it the same?? its got way more plants in-dafty

the tubes are literally held into 4 individual clips (plastic) and mounted onto the hood theres no reflector in there as yet, ill have to get one, but was a bit busy today having my tooth ripped out by a not nice dents

ill try and get a pic now for you xxx

Oh dear, I would recommend you rehome the Silver Dollar otherwise all those wonderful plants are going to end up as a rather tasty snack!
I had a shoal of just 3 and they managed to decimate about £50 of plants in less than 4 weeks!!

Just a word of warning,

Hey Shelagh, thought I would return the favour by having a quick flick through your journal and got to say you have done a great job in planting it without it looking gappy - something I have been struggling with.

Have you considered planting some moss or anything onto your wood? This is something I am probably going to try in my tank and apparently you dont need to have too intense a set up to make it work (although it wont obviously grow as quickly as with co2 etc)

Good Job!
