No stubs arent for bettas lmao - i only use the cheque book to pay for the school dinners lol

i used the long hose that came with the gravel vac , just fitted straight on the end of the fluval
then just threaded it through the dividers and letting the water go into the far end section
can see the water circulating back through the tank
i might be turning it into a spray bar , will have to block up the end though and then put the holes through but only got it as a circulating thingy (very technical) at the moment

nice, what size tank is that?

It's a juwel rekord 60 :)

cool, i'm setting up a 10 gallon tank, i can't wait till it's done cycleing

4 weeks min is a long wait though for cycling isn't it , bit of a pain but needs to be done , luckily i have lots of cycled filters sitting running in my tanks so i was ok ;)

oh, well the filter had allready been cycled, but imma let the tank itself cycle for a while, just because i can, it's been going for a week allready though, so i think it'll be good for friday, if not than please let me know

If you've left a cycled filter running in a tank for a week without adding either fish, or bottled ammonia to "feed" the bacteria, then your filter will now be basically almost uncycled and back to square one. You will need to cycle it all over again.

With no ammonia the bacteria start to die after a couple of days.

The tank itself does not cycle. Only the filter as this is where your main stock of good bacteria are.

have you got a mature filter running in the smaller tank that the bettas in at the moment?

@ honeythorn: i filled the tank with 50% fresh water and 50% water from my old tank, i tested the water when i first filled the tank, there is amonia present, but in decreasing levels, so i hope things will turn out fine, if not, than i guess i can wait another 4 weeks  anyway, i've sorta hijacked this post, lets turn attention back to that nice tank of pippoodles!

Do you find that having the hose pipe there slows down the current?

Just i v got the same filter, with my tank split into three. And teh section my filter sits in can be like a whirlwind lol!

i managed to get it pretty slow, but still my female had to chase the pellets when i fed her haha

yes slows the current right down and also makes the water circulate around the tank - i experimented without the tube on and water took a long time to circulate through the tank so had different temps at both ends of the tank - now it makes the water circulate the temp is even right the way through the tak and the flow is slow even with the filter on full pelt
