Hi guys,

I have just brought a Columbian Shark but he seems to be acting really strange. He has been in the tank now 2 days and he keeps swimming right at the top of the tank against the glass swimming backwards and forwards quite fast. Now at the same time he is eating off the bottom of the tank when i feed bloodworm but i am sure they are supposed to live mainly at the bottom of the tank not just to eat.I am starting to think he is a bit crazy!!! :S

can anyone tell me if this is normal or if anyone knows if it is a problem!!

thanx

People may have other input to this but this usually happens when they are kept on their own, in my experience. They are sociable animals and like to be kept in pairs...try adding another one :good:

EDIT: What size tank?

Hi

I totally agree, Columbian Cat Sharks are social animals. I made the same mistake when I started keeping Columbian Cat Sharks I started with one and he behaved the same way you are describing. It needs a companion, if you have got the space have three.

i had a similar problem with my bala. it turns out it was the computer screen (which is always on) next to the glass that he was swimming for. He would do it all day and all night. It got so bad he developed a sore which started bleeding. The solution was covering the ends of the tank. It worked a treat.
