Well chaps and chapettes finally my 4footer is up and running. I bought an all pond solutions external filter (with no where to put it!), some more bogwood and some plants and a bigger heater and here are the results....

i have plans for new stock, but im still not 100% happy with the planting layout, anyway what do you think?

Love the wallpaper!

Great looking tank as is, but maybe it could use a lot more plants & a single big piece of wood rather than many small ones? Is that an Aquatop canister filter? Let me know what you think of those as I was looking at them recently.......... :good:

mmmmmm yea i know what you mean with the wood, and regarding plants i did think its a bit sparce but im not sure what species to put in...its an aquapond solutions canister filter and its really good, only £50 new :)

Maybe it's like Tetratec in the UK being the same as Marineland in the USA? I swear that filter looks exactly like a brand called Aquatop which is sold by Walmart here in the US.

its probably the same, ive seen this same filter advertised in germany under "sun-sun" !!

They are made by Sun Sun i believe and are distributed worldwide under various names. All Pond Solutions is one of the main distributers in the UK. Decent filters as long as you don't ask too much of them. I have the 1000 and it has poor flow, should have spent the couple of extra quid and gone for the 1400.

Try taking pics with the flash off, will look so much better. :good:

Nice work too. :)

I like the look, could you not fill it with more water though?

Take off the flash and take a pic in the dark. Will look really nice one all the mist settles :good:

Looks like you're on the right track! Yeah need more and bigger stuff in there :)

Also, it doesn't look like that is a floating bottom tank which means you're supposed to have some styrofoam or something under it :/ Hopefully someone else will chime in to confirm?

thanks guys, almostawesome do you mean bigger plants and wood? ill get some more pics in a min...thanks ben

ive moved the plants around to create onebushy end and one wood end, i kinds like it for now

Hey! That looks really good! Did you leave enough room behind the hardscape on the right for plants? You may actually be able to get away with just adding more plants with this arrangement

I like it better that way! I think a big long piece of dritwood/mopani would look great in there. I'm sure the plants will fill in soon enough.

Maybe some taller plants like Vallis, Wisteria, etc. One of my favorite tall plants is Lemon Bacopa aka Bacopa Caroliniana. It looks like a nicer version of Moneywort but it is a slow grower.
