Here is a pic of my new 126L tank, only filled it up with water/plants/sand etc yesterday. No fisies until ive cycled it.

probably going to add some more plants and some rocks/stones and maybe bogwood, might try attaching java moss if i get hold of some, anything to occupy me while i wait for my tank to cycle.

Looking good. How deep is your sand? You may also find you get algae problems unless you get a few more plants as well. I try to plant on 50% of my substrate to cut down on algae probs.

Yeah as i said im going to add more plants to it when i get the chance, mainly because i know alot of fish like well planted tanks, i want to get hold of some more tall plants if possible. Sand is around 2 inches ish not sure if i need more / less was a bit of a pain, to start with it wasnt deep enough for the plants so i had to carefully add more using a covered jug in the water. Not sure if its too deep or too shallow to be fair.

As for stocking i was going to get some tetras, then a few weeks later get some corydoras sterbai (bit more expensive but they look great and this was the main reason for using sand), then maybe some dwarf gouramis and possibly kulhi loach.

Also one day i would love to get something like an african butterfly fish, but i think i need to learn alot before trying something like that, also make sure the other tank members are big enough and there are like tall or floating plants.

Heres a new shot of my tank, got some lovely new plants from a good lfs, the pets at home ones i got were rubbish and over priced, had to throw a lobelia cardinalis away because it was in such poor condition, looks alot better with these new ones in.

p.s i dont know how many ppl know this already but the guy at the shop said dried rabit droppings are an excellent fertiliser for amazon sword, a customer showed him a massive one he had grown using that method and also he saw it on a tv show as well apparantly.

any way heres the pic...

ah right thanks for the info, the tall one and the red one i got from the lfs and they have had them for ages fully submerged in water, i will leave them and if they start to die i will replace them. as for the anubias the person at the place i got them said i can attach them to bogwood but didnt say that i had to, but i did want to do this any way once i got some wood, so i will definately do that now. what would i use to anchor them to the rocks?

ps i dont have a rabbit so i wasnt planning to use the method but i thought i would mention it to see what people thought, i did also think about possibility of contamination, he did say to dry them out for a long time, which i guess might help cut the chances of this down but your definately right that it would be far safer just to use normal fertilizers, plus i dont really want massive amazon swords as they would take over my tank. Are those two ones you said would rot like pond edging plants or something because im sure ive seen them around ponds before, guess they arent really designed to be fully submerged, guy at the shop never mentioned that but i guess he wouldnt would he....

ok i took out those two plants and added some vallis and twisted vallis and anchored those mentioned plants to some bog wood ive been soaking. Any one know what the fern type one behind the wood on the left hand side is? is it an aquatic plant? will it be ok in the sand?

Nice, neat, simple tank you have there. Personally i'd attach a carpetting plant to your rock/slate, I think it would go nice. You should check out some of the following:
Riccia
Java Moss
Willow Moss
Christmas Moss
I'm sure there is lots more but this is just a few i've heard of. Riccia looks extremely nice but it does sound like hard work to keep it maintained, however java moss is very easy to maintain but doesn't look too nice IMHO.

Wild caught adult female ancistrus (not sure which one), best photo i could get with my camera phone, will get a better one when possible, just been laying in the corner so far.

Cool tank and fish. Jealous of your Plec. I totally agree with Neal
, that piece of slate/stone is just begging for a carpeting plant on it, it's the perfect stone.

Looking great, and woohoo someone spelt my name right for once! Also, back on the topic, your plec looks to me like a Bristlenose/Bushynose pleco, you can find out information on them at Planet Catfish, I have 2 of them (getting another tommorow from my brother) so will have 3, they do a great job of algae cleaning and have great personalities especially when kept in groups...

Yep its a bristlenose, turns out its a male though, got more bristles than i thought and its got a line running up the middle between its eyes. Now i know its a male i will probably get a female one, didnt want to get two males as my tank isnt too big.

For the first day or two it stayed under the wood and today its started to come out, when i got back from work it was hanging un the underside of my filter, and then after that it went onto my glass, still there now.

under my filter, only got a camera phone, my digicam is even worst.

ps how much do this fish poop? I know its an adult one but still lol already cleaned it all up once and its all back again, all its had is one algae wafer and nibbled a bit of cucumber, didnt have alot of algae in the tank.
