My 125 litre Juwel tank finished it's fishless cycle last week, and on Saturday I transfered the stock from my old smaller tank, plus some new ones.

The current stock is:

3 Black Neons
9 Cardinal Tetra.
7 Harlequin Rasbora.
5 Panda Corys.
3 Coolie Loach

Over time I'm considering adding the following:

2 or 3 Black Neons to increase the numbers of those I already have.
1 Bristlenose Plec.
3 Zebra Loach.
1 Siamese fighting fish (Male).

Any recommendations and advice would be appreciated.

PS, I'm keeping a close eye on water stats, and temp as this is a new tank. - So far everything appears spot on and all the fish are active.

Everything sounds great minus the betta, keep him in a 5g alone and you'll be sorted :good:

Hey - how about some cichlids ?

Check my Sig out, thats what I have in a 125.

I really like the Fire Rams or Flame Rams, same size as a bolivian but really bright orange / red tail and fins, look fantastic and not expensive.

If you are going to get some cichlids, I would leave your tank alone for a few more weeks, let it all settle down and then get them as they are sensitive to water conditions.

I would re-home the Betta though, otherwise he might end up getting nipped. :good:

Hi, I've not got a Betta, and won't now after the advise I've received.

Funnily enough I was thinking about Aggasiz'z Dwarf Cichlids.

I'll take a look around the Cichlids section. :good:

Congratulations on your newly cycled tank! :D

I hope your fish remain well as that's an awful lot to put in a newly cycled tank in a month let alone a week! Look out for new tank syndrome...you may find your stats go all over the place.

I wouldn't add any more fish for some time to come really. The tank's got alot of catching up to do now.

Have you looked at Boesemani Rainbowfish?

Lovely centre pieces they are :D

Thanks for the comments. Interesting what you say about stocking too quickly. I have followed the fishless cycle instructions here http://www.fishforums.net/content/New-to-t...shless-Cycling/ to the letter.

At the end fo the instructions it says, "You are almost there. Once the bacteria are able to process 4 or 5 ppm of ammonia back to zero ammonia and nitrite in about 10 to 12 hours. You are officially cycled.
At this point, your tank will probably look terrible with brown algae everywhere and probably cloudy water. As I mentioned, the nitrate reading will also be off the chart. Nitrates can only be removed with water changes. Do a large water change, 75 to 90 percent, turn the heat down to the level the fish you have decided on will need, and you are ready to add your fish. You can safely add your full fish load as your tank will have enough bacteria built up to handle any waste they can produce."
.

If this is incorrect, it should be edited. I'll keep a close eye on things, I've not added to the stock mentioned above, so it is having some time to settle.

I like the look of the Boesemani Rainbowfish, I'll do a bit more research on them and if suitable I may get some.

I'm not saying that thread is wrong, but I personally would not have put that many fish into a new tank so fast. Personal preference, that's all.

I guess there are so many different ways people recommend to do things that not everyone is going to agree with every suggestion made on a forum.
