My New 100l Tank

So I got a new tank a few weeks ago. A nice little corner thing, got it on eBay, plenty of bits with it and was a bargain.

Upgrading and space saving (doe a that make sense?) from my table top 60L.

At the moment I only have one male red betta, one neon tetra one female Molly and her 9 babies (born on Friday! Awwwww) and one common pleco. The Molly and a neon tetra was a rescue from a neighbors tank. I only just finished setting up my smaller tank before deciding to get a corner one. I've just moved house and I need to space for the boyfriends stupidly large telly.

I also got some plants for the first time. Sick of plastic crap.

The new tanks 100L what should I keep? I know I should go buildup the neon tetra clan a bit first.

Had a 120L and a 60L when I first joined and swapped my 120 for lizards and a viv. Dint like keeping lizards. The 60L fish where given away and the tank I've kept. (Just sold it this week)

increase number of neons (10 is a nice number for a good colourful shoal) and think about rehoming the common plec to start with as he's gonna outgrow the tank fast (we adopted a 5yo 10" commo plec earlier this year and poor thing was really stunted from bein g in a tank too small - he died not long after) . I'd also get 6x Corydora

The pleco is only about two inches. I'm sending him to my brothers once he's too big. I love my cat fishes and Pleco! Looks like maidenhead have emerald corys in so ill get some of those.

Will neons only wonder with other neons, and not other types?

generally neons will shoal with their own type. As it was explained to me regular neons and diamond neons MIGHT shoal together but the other species are not likely to.

we hae 2 clown plecos - they are awesome but seriously messy little monsters! cories are the most fun to watch - we have greeny peppered ones, really pretty

I would have kept the plastic plants, they wont rot and die like most of the real NON aquatic plants you put in the tank.

Oops! Forgot to mention the green and reds are fake. Everything else is real. Most are tropica plants. The two fakes are to make it look fuller till I decide what else I want to out in or is compatible.

Yup. There are a few other types in the back in my little rockery and hide always. Not sure if there visible.

like i said then, non aquatic plants, they will rot quickly and polute your water.

Really? Why are they sold as aquatic plants then? There about 4 weeks in there and no problem appart from a few pleco nips.

They are used in paludarium's where they are not submerged under water. They would happily grow in a pot in the window in your kitchen though.

PS, i just noticed your comment about a common Pleco....you seriously have one in a 100 litre tank?

You are aware how big they get?

Maybe time to think again and rehome him before he starts to grow up all deformed

What Tizer is trying to say is that by keeping him in such a small tank (for him) now, even when he is as small as he is at the moment, it has the very real possibility of severely stunting his growth and shortening his life.

They are also very messy, and will dirty a tank of this size in no time. Personally, as nice as they are, I would donate him to your LFS and have a small school of Corys instead.
