Yep, they are! I turned on the lights this morning, and noticed they all had what looks like a white line on their anal fin. I was going to take a pic to post here and ask about it. I watched 'em a little longer, and noticed 'em swimming around "together" (and I don't mean schooling!) and then eggs falling! :hyper: :fun: Then I told 'em to spawn over a leaf so that I could catch some of the eggs. Well, I guess I should have been a little more specific, 'cause they did spawn over a leaf, but the leaf they spawned over sits at an angle, like this: / and all the eggs slid off. I'd imagine my Corys have picked 'em all up by now :( What would I do with the eggs, anyway? Should I take 'em out and put 'em in a different tank? How long does it take 'em to hatch?

I'm so excited! :fun: :fun:

I thought it was supposed to be difficult to get Neons to spawn... -_-

Edit: I've just done a little research and it said that it has to be dark for the eggs to hatch. Think I should leave the lights off for a day or so? Just in case there are a few eggs that don't get vacuumed up by the Corys? Or would it be pointless to do that, 'cause there's such a small chance of any of the eggs surviving?

Congrats! Now... Did you know that their eggs are supposed to be super light sensitive? Cover up that tank fast!!! ;)

I've kept the light off today, just in case there are a few eggs that the Corys missed. I'd like to get a few baby Neons, but I'm not too hopeful. But now that I know I really don't have to do much to get 'em to spawn, I can separate 'em out to spawn, then throw the parents back in the main tank once they drop the eggs. Then maybe I'll get little baby Neons! Yay!

It should be really cool to have a large schoal of baby neons in a tank... ;)

Yeah, that's really awesome. So it's a white line on the anal fin indicates spwning? I've seen a line like that on a few of my tetras, maybe they were spawning too! I bet my corys got the eggs, though, those efficient little buggers.

WOW COngrats!!!!!!!!!! I've never heard of anyone breeding neons before...they must be really happy and healthy....

thats awesome! i want my neons to spawn but i dont think they will. But thats so cool! congrats!

Thanks for the comments, everyone!

I didn't do anything special to get them to spawn. I'd never planned on trying to spawn 'em, 'cause I'd heard it was rather difficult.

The *only* thing I changed in the last few weeks was adding a couple of Java Ferns and a week or two ago I started feeding the fish twice a day instead of once. I didn't change foods, just fed 'em twice a day. I guess they like that, eh? :)

If anyone wants to know what the water params are, I can check for ya.

As far as the white line on the anal fin indicating spawning, I don't know. My guess is that it does, though, since the first time I noticed it was yesterday and that's when I saw them spawning.
