I have 8 Multis in a 48G species only tank. I believe I have 4 males and 4 females and so far I've got 3 breeding pairs.
Last week I found my first lot of fry, did try getting photos but they weren't very clear. My 2nd pair have also had fry, I did spot two the other day but I can only find one now. :( After a lot of patience, I finally got a photo of the single fry!
My 3rd pair are showing signs of having just bred so I'm expecting more fry anytime soon.

congratulations, hope you have many more :)

need better pictures can hardly see it in the shell.

Well done! it is so exciting when you see that small movement in the shell and they are so quick and shy at first... I have had many batches of fry but in 10 months my multi family has only grown from the original 3 to 11 fish. I don't know if this is good or bad but as they are in a community tank its probably right for the available space. I have a very slow water flow past the shells which are very algae covered, did I see one of yours also with short brown downy algea on? My multies don't seem to mind..

Thanks Kewskills.
Unfortunately, that's the best shot I can get at the moment without disturbing or frightening them. Not only that, at the moment they are only about 2-3cm so not an easy task! :)

Actually I think Multies are Old rather than New World cichlids, they come from Tanganyika.
Thanks Fishstick. Brain dead tonight and couldn't think which section to put them in...
Some of my shells have got algae on them, they were like that when I got them from the shop. The fish don't seem to mind it at all, it seems to be the algae covered ones that they are breeding in!

Thanks Angel. :)
This is the first fish I've owned that's bred so I was over the moon to find some fry!
You won't believe how many photos I've taken trying to capture the fry but they are so tiny!
I will persevere and hopefully get some better pics. ;)
